Mia Goldsmith
Mia Goldsmith, with her incredible string of competition wins and international teaching and performing gigs,
excels in dances from the Jazz Age -- and is known as one of the best Balboa Swing dancers in the world. As one
of the cornerstones of the Seattle swing dance scene for over five years, instructing and performing regularly at
the Century Ballroom, Mia has since moved to New Orleans. There she helps run a weekly swing dance night, is
producing a dance and music variety show, and spends the bulk of her time dancing and partying the nights away
to all the fabulous local bands of her scene.
Her unique approach to teaching is full of energy and creativity,
bringing a passionate and motivated air to the classroom. She is known for her highly impressive footwork,
improvisation, and individual approach to the dance. Mia loves her dog, Louly, gin and tonics, singing musicals
at the top of her lungs (preferably at karaoke bars), and loud, live jazz to dance to. She also thinks you should
all come to New Orleans and dance with her to the best bands in the entire universe....and then sing karaoke with her.
Peter Loggins
Peter Loggins is the foremost researcher on American Jazz Dance. Credited during the 1990's for bringing back many of the dances that he learned from the original dancers of the 1920's, 30's and 40's.
He brings a first hand historical approach to his classes sharing what was handed down by National Charleston champions, Harvest Moon Ball Lindy Hop winners and 1930's Swing Champions.
Peter not only travels worldwide as an instructor, lecturer, performer and competition judge but he has also been featured in television and film such as Beverly Hills 90210, Marilyn Manson "Mobscene" video, Royal Crown Revue's "Zip Gun Pop" video, Mulholland Drive, and the 13th Floor to name a few.
Aside from having a down to earth street approach to learning, his expansive knowledge of social jazz dances and the music that drove them allow students to learn the history of these dances and how they've evolved through the years.
